About Us
Welcome To Foundations Physio
Foundations Physio was started in 2015 by Adam Poulter with a goal of providing specialist physiotherapy services to people living with neurological conditions and the elderly. Our aim is to build an accessible service for those with long term conditions within Surrey and Hampshire, creating a positive and supportive community for those we work with.
Â
You and your family are at the heart of our service, we understand that a hospital admission or illness can be a really difficult time for everyone involved and represents a big life change. We like to approach people with this in mind, working in an empathetic and understanding manner to start you or your family member on their journey to better health.
Experienced And Evidence Based
As a team we are all continually training and learning, using the latest research to inform our treatments and assessments. We also invest and trial the latest technologies in rehabilitation to give people the best opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing.
Â
Foundations Physio is fortunate to have a very experienced and committed team, your goals are important to us and we will go the extra mile to support you in achieving them. This may be in the form of extra sessions, it may be working with local NHS services and charities or spending time with your carers and close family to enable them to support you along your journey.

Our treatment approach
At Foundations Physio we believe that to be successful in your rehabilitation journey you need a solid set of foundations. These can come in many forms and could be;Â
-
Physical
Good core strength allows you to more effectively control your arms and legs and provides a solid base to work from. We aim to assess where those physical challenges lie and support you to address them through physical activity and task specific practice. -
Social
Having unwavering support from a family member, friend, advocate or local group can really help you focus on your rehabilitation and feel grounded. Working together is paramount to success. -
Financial
As a private service we aim to make things as affordable as possible, we know that statutory services stop often long before our patients have reached their peak. That's why we support people to gain funding through charities or the NHS where appropriate. -
Emotional
Undergoing a significant change in health or living with a long term condition can have a huge impact on your emotional state. We will support you to accept and understand your feelings in relation to your condition, helping you to focus on how you can make positive and meaningful changes. -
Educational
Understanding your health, neurological system and the "why" of rehabilitation techniques is so important. Knowing your body and how best to help it recover can allow you to take ownership of your rehabilitation and condition moving forwards. -
Cognitive
Most people don't remember what the physio told them, especially with fatigue or other effects related to your health condition. We aim to help you identify and implement strategies in order to effectively engage in your program.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have all these things in place, not many people do. Our experienced and skilled team are here to help you consider and achieve your goals in a way that best suits you.Â
Â
Our approach is based around encouraging physical activity, not just exercises. We believe in getting people involved in hobbies and re-igniting previous interests, this could be through adaptation or through a rehabilitation plan to work towards your goal. Physical activity could be anything from gardening to skiing, we believe anything is possible with the right amount of time and support.
